Circular route between the shapes and colours of the Calanchi di Rigoroso, Sottovalle and Carrosio passing through woods, meadows and rocky outcrops. Along the way we will discover how these landscapes offer a variety of habitats of community interest

Sunday, December 3rd we meet across the watershed, near Rigoroso, from where we will start for a loop through the Site of Community Interest of the Calanchi di Rigoroso, Sottovalle and Carrosio. A trekking from the valley floor up the slope where these particular geological formations emerge, through the most varied types of natural environment. This protected area is in fact a set of habitats that are very important for different plant and animal species: in the spring many protected species of orchids bloom in the meadows and are home to different types of insects and amphibians at risk of extinction, and the skies are flown over by several protected species of birds such as the white-tailed falcon and the white-tailed falcon. At the end of the route you will be able to observe some unique historical testimonies: in the area are scattered everywhere the traces of the 'Roman aqueduct…
